Enjoy Your Life

Every now and then go away, have a little relaxation, for when you come back to your work your judgment will be surer. Go some distance away because then the work appears smaller and more of it can be taken in at a glance and a lack of harmony and proportion is more readily seen.

Leonardo Da Vinci

This weekend we attended to Yoga in Daily Life seminar in Umag, Croatia. Though we really enjoy our work, we find that getting away from it all for a while is very refreshing, even if it is just for three days. Aside from the main speaker, Paramhans Swami Maheshwarananda, who was very inspiring, we had the time to get reacquainted with some old friends and also meet new people, maybe even a few clients for that matter.

What good can a yoga seminar do for me and what does it have to do with web development, you wonder? Well, it really doesn’t, it certainly won’t earn you money in fact you will most likely even spend some. But if you’re anything like us, and by that I mean you’re spending most of your time in front of your computer screen, drawing, coding and creating new stuff, than you will definitely benefit from it. It seems that good ol’ Leonardo was right after all.

I must say that after clearing our minds a bit we were able to confront and solve problems much faster. And I don’t mean some spiritual or another world problems, I mean problems which all of you are faced with on daily basis, web design and development issues, business decisions and such.

Not to mention the benefit yoga exercises have on spinal column and body in general. Yes, I’m talking to you web designers and programmers! Do something good for yourself and for your health. All of those creative juices you intend to use on your next project, they need to start flowing somehow. And I couldn’t imagine a better way than exercising a bit.

What I’m trying to say here is, go out there, open your mind and be relaxed. Don’t get consumed by the work. If you get stuck with one thing only, even if it is the thing you like most, you deprive yourself of one beautiful thing in life, and that is diversity.

That was very inspiring post! Although I am neither designer nor a programmer I do try to balance my life with yoga. Even a small success on that field is a joy and it has a great benefit on me. I think that the knowledge of yoga is far beyond the daily issues, but very profoundly it penetrates our lives making us better and more aware of our duties and people we are connected with.

Thanks for your encouraging comment, it’s always nice to hear that there are people who benefit from practicing yoga. And by the way it’s good to see people who are not related to web development reading our blog.

Totally agreed. I’m not practicing yoga (yet). Doesn’t matter if it is jogging, skating, surfing or whatever as long as it helps clearing my mind and get the toxins out of my body.

Thank you guys for your comments.
Daniel, I’m glad you like our site, as for the JavaScript ‘magic’ behind, we’ll soon be posting a tutorial on how we did it, so stay tuned.

Love your website, mantra and post! I am also a web developer who was finally convinced to try yoga and it has helped tremendously. My body is frequently aching as my body was not meant to be hunched over a keyboard all day but we have to pay the bills right! Yoga has helped me to just stretch a lot more. Have not been doing it for over a month and totally notice the difference. Have to get back on it.

Once again great post and great work.

I found this website through www.webcreme.com which I look at daily. I am a designer and find your website impressive, to say the least. Above and beyond the Customize script, the site is just so well done. If I wasn’t in the business, I would be talking to you about creating my next web presence. :)
