Sergej's profile
Sergej Skrjanec has been active in various fields of IT since he sat in front of his first computer at the age of thirteen. He was mostly interested with programming languages and graphic design. Since web development combined both of these it was his natural choice.
He has been working for a small web startup as a web programmer. After a while his better half Ana and he decided they wanted greater creative freedom and started freelancing under the name of "ComplementaryDuo".
Sergej is a web developer with experience in ASP.NET, C# and SQL Server and has been occupied with learning Ruby on Rails lately. He likes to combine server side programming with JavaScript and CSS. He had also been working with Flash and ActionScript, although he prefers to use Ajax instead. He thinks that web standards project is the best thing that happened to web since its beginnings.
He has a passion for photography and playing chess. Occasionally he drives Ana mad by playing guitar while she works. Practicing yoga and meditation are relaxation methods of choice to him. Traveling, walking in nature and enjoying listening to good music also do the trick. And yes, he is a vegetarian.
In near future he would like to learn Japanese, travel to Japan with Ana, get a hold of Canon EOS 5D digital camera with complete set of lenses and buy a better guitar. He would also like to find a way to slow down the time, to reduce the stress he's currently under.
Ana's profile
Ana Travas has been designing on the web for more than seven years now. Despite the fact that she has a university degree in tourist management she has chosen web design for her profession. Web standards movement only solidified that decision.
She is experienced in creating usable and accessible standards compliant web sites, resolving crossbrowser compatibility issues and creating tableless layouts.
She is well versed in major web design applications such as Dreamweaver, TopStyle, Fireworks, Photoshop and handcoding valid HTML, XHTML and CSS. She is also able to find her way around unobtrusive DOM scripting using JavaScript toolkits.
She has an eye for details and she won't rest until every pixel is exactly where she wants it to be. She loves contemporary art and technology and according to her, web design is a perfect combination of both.
Though she had some experience with programming before, she had waited for Ruby on Rails to appear to start considering it more seriously. Right now she is busy learning it fast.
Abstract painting is her childhood love, though she doesn't have much time for that lately. She practices yoga and is a vegetarian for more than 12 years and enjoys cooking delicious vegetarian meals for family and friends.
In near future Ana would like to see Mt. Kailas in India, observe blossoming of cherries in Japan and finally catch some time to learn to play saxophone.

Ana and Sergej have been literally inseparable since they met each other back in high school and realized that they function much better together than each of them alone. Traveling, yoga, photography, design and computers were among many interests they shared.
Soon after the appearance of the Internet, they found themselves creating their first web site, learning to think in entirely new ways. They were involved in building web sites ever since, constantly improving their design and programming skills.
Though they would both love to deal with every aspect of web development, Ana tends to do the user interface design while Sergej is more into programming. These differences allow them to create beautifully designed, standards compliant web sites, user interfaces and backend solutions.
They have been working successfully as a team for the last seven years, filling each other in, always learning and seeking to broaden their horizons with new ideas.

About this site
This site is designed, built and maintained by ComplementaryDuo. It is written using valid XHTML code, properly styled and laid out with CSS. Underlying JavaScript relies on MooTools library which is also used for all of the effects. Clientside code follows progressive enhancement philosophy and is implemented unobtrusively whenever possible. Basically, that means it also works with JavaScript disabled.
The site is built on WordPress Open Source publishing platform which made all heavy customizations possible.
We have tried to ensure maximum readability by allowing users to customize the site width and text size according to their preferences. Your preferences are stored on your computer using cookies, which you must be able to accept to use this feature. No other information is collected.
The site has been successfully tested with Firefox 1.5+, Opera 9+, Internet Explorer 6+ and Konquerer. Unfortunately it hasn't been tested on Safari yet. We would appreciate feedback from Mac users regarding compatibility issues.
